FINISHED!

Brocante is finished and today I am checking the proof copies of the first dated products to be published with this design - a small handbag sized diary and an A4 organiser calendar.

Its great to see the proofs and I will be even more pleased when I see the finished products

in the autumn.

I'm often asked about my illustration technique...I was never 'taught' illustration, just worked out my own technique many years ago. I use Artists watercolours but instead of painting fluid 'washes' of colour with big soft brushes I build up each image gradually with hundreds of little overlapping individual strokes. I use very small Windsor and Newton Series 7 'Finest Sable' brushes that last for ages and often there are only a few hairs left before I finally throw them away. If I make a mistake I can sometimes remove the offending layer of paint without it showing but sometimes there is nothing that can be done to save it.
