The pic below shows a couple of illustrations from 'Brocante'.
I am really enjoying creating imagery of people, faces and objects - a bit of a diversion from plants and flowers.
Inspiration for the series comes from my affection for the imagery, typography and language of ephemera and at last my collection of faded postcards, photographs, vintage fabrics and china has found a voice - apart from cluttering up my house that is!
Any of you who know my work may also recognize some of the floral repeat patterns that I have incorporated into the design. I hope that when it is all finished it will be a layering of memories, images and voices echoing mine and yours and those that went before us.

Congratulations on your blog Judith. I have just started one of my own and have found it fun. Your Brocante collection is exquisite!
Hi Judith,
Thanks for your encouraging comment on my blog recently...I am also a friend of Val Greeley's, she basically encouraged me to do the blog and I am still very new at the whole thing. I did want to say that I visited your website and your work is beautiful and oh so very English. I live in Maine and I have been here in the US for over 20 years now but I can spot a great piece of Brit illustration from a mile away.
Best regards...Patricia Shea
